“Situationship” is the first single by Alli’ Starr to be released on the 30 year old independent British Soul/RnB label Expansion Records. Alli’ has already been compared to Anita Baker, Sade and more, and it’s not hard to see why this Chuckii Booker bossanova styled ballad and Alli’ Starr’s vocal talents attracted the attention of label founder Ralph Tee.
Derailed from her original plan to become a mortician and join the family business, Starr became a singer/songwriter, entertaining audiences world-wide, supporting artists such as Tank, Ro James, Mya, Marsha Ambrosius, Lyfe Jennings, Avant, Phil Perry, Tony Terry and Ronnie Laws. She has also headlined at international venues in several countries including China, Brazil, Korea and London. She was based in Japan for two years where she chose to remain following the tragic Fukushima disaster and earthquake in 2011. She has also performed with Barbara Streisand at the MGM Grand, Matt Goss and Bros.
Alli’, who is based in Las Vegas, has the presence of a veteran vocalist, carrying herself with poise and professionalism rarely seen in someone her age, even before a note is lifted. Audiences are surprised by the calibre of vocals and range. She brings to each performance the classic style of the great singers who lead the way.
In 2015 Alli’ was diagnosed with SVT: Supra-ventricular Tachycardia, a condition when the heart beats faster than normal. Alli’ now wears a pacemaker to keep her heart rate regular.
Reflecting on this time in her life, Alli’ says ‘it made me determined to be around for my twins.
Situationship is released on Expansion Records on 4th September 2020, and available through all good digital platforms.
