The fuse has been lit and there’s no turning back, MuzArt have exploded onto the scene with their energetic, arty arrangements. This five-piece musical collective turns every listener into a fan with their playful, expertly executed rhythms and riveting performances.
MuzArt is the coming together of five gifted musicians who combine their talents and unique perspectives to create a world of sound, colour and creativity. Layers of jazz, pop, house, gospel and soul fuse to forge their sound, an interplay of genres which are underpinned by positivity and a celebration of life and love.
Even before the release of their debut album the band had shared the stage with some of South Africa’s biggest stars including AKA, DJ Kent, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, HHP, Lira, The Muffinz, Zakes Bantwini and Dr Malinga, amongst others. A year later and the list keeps growing. The success of the group has now lead them to feature in events like the Tortured Soul SA Tour, Heineken Star Club (performing alongside Quinton Harris and Kerri Chandler), Sansui Summer Cup, Spring Fiesta, Maxwell Concert Media Launch, J&B Met and MTN Bushfire Festival. MuzArt’s first single released off their album, “Jukebox”, held the number one spot on multiple YFM charts for more than three months consecutively while their second single “Party After” propelled the band into the limelight, topping charts and demanding prime airplay.

Layers of jazz, pop, house, gospel and soul fuse to forge their sound – an interplay of genres which is underpinned by positivity and a celebration of life and love. In celebrating this love, the group has also been named official ambassadors for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital and are actively involved with related projects.
Well known and widely popular now, the story begins in 2010 when multitalented musicians Tshegofatso "Tazzy" Lehutso and Victory “Vic” Chauke met at a gig in Soweto. Sensing a musical synergy, the two trained musicians quickly sparked a friendship and the pair began jamming in the studio. Their dream of starting a musical production team led them to approach, Rorisang "Rori" Thandekiso to be their ambassador. Rori was already successful in the television industry at the time and hadn’t considered pursuing a musical path. The pair took a chance and sent her a Facebook message, to their surprise, she responded and agreed to meet them to listen to their music. However, another surprise awaited them. When Rori stepped behind the mic, a spectacular voice was unleashed, one that would surely elevate their musical dreams into a sparkly reality.
After hearing her sing their production ambitions soon shifted into developing a musical ensemble unlike anything the South African market would ever expect. Rori’s feisty attitude, onscreen poise and her recently unveiled vocal ability, singled her out as an ideal candidate to front the band. Guitarist, Sol Mosetle, often sessioned with the band in their early days and appreciating the synergy between them, he naturally became the fourth member of the group. This talented guitar specialist has lent his skills to a long list of respected music acts and he adds a vital splash of live instrumentation to the group’s sound. The final addition to MuzArt, completing the fantastic five was DJ and networker Nkanyiso “Nka” Kanyile AKA Jabu Jnr son of the late, great Jabu Khanyile. As a long time friend of the group, he played a crucial role in getting their music to the right people, marketing and sharing their sound.
His perspective as a DJ was quickly added to the group, creating a dance floor edge that has taken their sound into clubs and beyond. This diverse combination of varied talents creates the perfect platform for MUZART to cater to all audiences with their musical compositions that are suitable for both the studio and stage. Although the group can be described as young, fresh and upbeat their aim to create timeless music that touches and resonates with people from all walks of life displays a certain maturity. They share a genuine desire to leave a lasting legacy. Citing the likes of legends like Louie Vega, Sergio Mendes, Reel People, Earth;Wind and Fire, Foreign Exchange, Jabu Khanyile, Caiphus Semenya, Sankomota and Stimela as role models – it’s clear that MuzArt’s sights are set on the sky and they’re prepared to do the work required to get there. In saying this, MuzArt’s hard work and noticeable talent is quickly paying off.
From all four corners of Gauteng – these five individuals blend their separate understandings and skills into a cohesive style. Impressive composition techniques and solid production values underpins their music, yet their classically trained knowhow glows with the edge and unpredictability of the streets. Gleaming keys stumbleupon rippling rhythms and bouncy basslines. The voices of Rori, Vic and Tazzy soar on top of their energetic arrangements. Together MuzArt conjures a vivid vision of unclouded sunshine and positivity, together they sculpt a truly uplifting sound. If anything, MuzArt proves that when the right artists come together, magic happens. Their undeniable chemistry as a band and polished musical output is full of imagination and charm. This is the new face of South African pop and they’re in a perpetual motion upwards!
